Ferdinando Emanuele è un socio di Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP.
È entrato a far parte dello studio nel 1998, ha lavorato presso l’ufficio di Bruxelles fino al 1999 e presso quello di Londra tra il 2001 e il 2002, diventando partner nel 2007. Nel 2018, ha anche lavorato nell’ufficio di Buenos Aires per sei mesi.
È specializzato in contenzioso e arbitrato, nazionale e internazionale, in materia di diritto civile, commerciale e finanziario.
Da luglio 2021 e per il triennio corrente, è membro dell’ICC International Court of Arbitration.
Dal 2016, su designazione del Ministero delle Finanze e del Governatore della Banca d’Italia, è rappresentante italiano nel panel di conciliatori permanente dell’ICSID (International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes).
Chambers Global e Chambers Europe lo indicano da anni in “Band 1” tra i migliori avvocati italiani nell’area Dispute Resolution.
Dal 2015 è incluso nella lista dei trenta avvocati più influenti in Italia da LegalCommunity e GQ.
Dal 2021 è incluso nella Hall of Fame for Dispute Resolution di The Legal 500 EMEA.
È stato nominato arbitro unico, presidente e arbitro di parte in vari arbitrati dalla Corte Internazionale di Arbitrato – ICC, dalla Camera Arbitrale Nazionale e Internazionale di Milano, dal Consiglio dell’Ordine degli Avvocati di Roma e dal Presidente del Tribunale di Roma.
Dal 2020 è Adjunct Professor of International Arbitration: Law and Practice presso l’Università LUISS di Roma.
Si è laureato in giurisprudenza con lode all’Università LUISS di Roma nel 1991. È stato assistente di diritto internazionale privato e processuale presso la stessa università dal 1991 al 1999. Nel 1992, ha frequentato l’Academy of American and International Law presso l’Università del Texas.
Nel 2002, ha conseguito un Master in legge (LL.M.) presso la University of Michigan Law School. Nel 2009, ha frequentato l’“ICC Institute Masterclass for Arbitrators” a Parigi.

Ferdinando Emanuele has been a partner at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP since 2007.
He has been practising litigation and arbitration for nearly 25 years focusing on national and international arbitration and litigation, specifically with regard to civil, commercial and competition law.
Since July 2021 and for the current three-year period he has been elected a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration.
In 2016 he was appointed by the Italian Government and the Governor of the Bank of Italy as a member for the Italian Republic of the panel of conciliators of ICSID.
In 2016-2019 Chambers Global and Chambers Europe ranked him in Band 1 as Italian dispute resolution specialist. 
Since 2015 he has been included by LegalCommunity and GQ in the list of the thirty most influential lawyers in Italy; since 2021 he has been recognized in the Hall of Fame for Dispute Resolution by The Legal 500 EMEA.
He has defended many Italian and foreign companies in complex arbitration and litigation proceedings. He has also acted as presiding, party-appointed and sole arbitrator appointed by the ICC, the Milan Chamber of National and International Arbitration, the Rome Bar Council and the President of the Court of Rome.
In 2020 he was appointed Adjunct Professor of International Arbitration: Law and Practice at the LUISS University of Rome.
He graduated with honors from the LUISS University of Rome in 1991 and worked as a research assistant on private international law until 1999. In 1992, he attended the University of Texas Academy of American and International Law and The Hague Academy of Public and Private International Law. In 2000, he obtained an LL.M. from the University of Michigan Law School.  In 2009, he attended the “ICC Institute Masterclass for Arbitrators” in Paris.
